A much needed free weekend in the BCN!
Friday I went shopping and bought some new clothes, but just a few! It was fun because i went by myself, and thats the best way...although, i did miss you to shop with mom! Then Friday night a small group of us went to this connected shot bar/disco. It was a lot of fun too! Me and Bhavika had a photo shoot just being funny. For some reason that night I was super hyper so it was so much fun. I laughed the whole night at nothing at all. good times. Saturday we worked on our projects during the day and then that evening we had plans to meet our spanish teacher who is really cool and only 28, at her apartment and eat dinner with her and then go out. She lives in a little town called Sitges, so we had to take the regional rail there, but it was only a 45 minute ride. Our teacher, Sandra, met us at the station and took us to her apartment. There she had cooked us dinner which was so good. She made a tortilla de patata, these grilled sandwhiches with ham and cheese or chorizo and cheese, and then pieces of bread with cheese and jelly stuff on them. i am not even kidding it was one of the best meals I have had since i have been here. Then she took us on a little walk around parts of the city. It is gorgeous, i plan on going back on a day trip because it is so cute. It is on the beach and had a pretty castle, and it is a small village which is a welcome change in pace for a day. There we disco hopped on this one street for a couple of hours. We all got really tired around 2 so we went back and fell asleep all over her apartment. The next morning we took the train back to Resa and once again spent the day working on our studio project. That evening around 8, Bhavika, Preston, Denise and I wanted to get out of our rooms and see the city at night, so we decided to go up to Montjuic for a little "study break" We rode the bus up there and got off at the top. First we took pictures of our area of study for studio, but then that was out of mind and we just sat at the top looking at the city. Surprisingly a lot of the important buildings that you would thing would be lit weren't, but we did get to see the torre agbar at night which is a bullet shaped tower that is red and blue at night. We took some pictures of the city and then made our way down to the bus stop halfway down the mountain. We walked and did cartwheels through a park that was fenced off just t
o be rebels and then took funny pictures on a statue. We also saw the swimming and diving complex from the olympics and it is amazing. It is the coolest sport facility I have ever seen and is is so simple. I dont think i can describe it but i will try. So it is on the side of the mountain and on the up hill side is all the seating, and then it is flattened out for the two swimming pools and then it just stops and drops off so you are sitting in the stands and see the diving boards and all that, but the city is the backdrop! Amazing. I bet is was so cool to watch olympic diving there. So we rode the bus back down and got dropped off at the dancing fountains, which happened to be dancing at the time, but had no music going. Right to the side of that is also an architecturally famous pavilion designed by meis van de rhoe. So we went and looked at that and then headed back to Resa to work again. It was a really fun and needed study break! The funny pictures from the statue i really want to post, but they are not on my camera, so i will put them up later when i get them! The picture I posted is not that great, but i put it because you can see the torre a agbar that i was talking about.
