My first day in Europe

When we got here, we took a cab from the airport to our apartment. The whole ride i was basically rubber-necking at everything. When we got dropped off at our apartment we all went to our rooms and dropped off our stuff. its really cool the way its set up because its like a rectangle, but after the first floor its open in the center and all our rooms face inward so we can just open our windows and talk to each other to figure out plans and stuff. Its really cool and convenient. The picture shows that! Anyway, when we got here we were all exhausted, but we were also really excited so we went out and explored. Barcelona is HUGE, so we still have seen less than an eighth of the city, but we very close to one of the main drags. It is called Las Ramblas which is like a street that has a big "sidewalk" down the middle for people to walk down and then traffic on both sides and then like normal sidewalks and buildings. Its cool, but it is extremely touristy so its very crowded, overpriced and pretty Americanized (McDonalds, KFC, Subway...). On the first day, mainly we just walked around and took in Las Ramblas and did little things like go grocery shopping and buy pillowcases and stuff like that. That is a picture just walking down Las Ramblas. Then, that night about 8 of us went out to dinner. We ate on Las Ramblas so it was pretty expensive, and it really wasnt that good or native for that matter. After that we went to some bar and some people got drinks and we just sat around and talked. It was a monday night and it was packed...i was surprised. (i guess im naive) Me and my roommate were exhausted so we came back at like 1 in the morning but everyone else went clubbing and didnt get back until 4. And we hadnt sleep the night before because we got here at like 4 US time. The picture is at the bar, and the girl in the picture is Bhavika and she is my roomate!
